Best Mother's Day EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mothers day started out with me sleeping until 10:30 am, I then woke up and took a long hot luxurious shower and put on my most comfy clothes and I then walked into an immaculate living room. Yes, Frank cleaned the entire living room and the entire kitchen for me. I then had a nice cup of coffee and lounged around watching a movie with my family. I then sat out on the porch for a while and I got to see my first new bird of the day (YEAH! BIRDS! LOL! It's mothers day, I get to post what I want!) I saw my very first Black-Headed Grosbeak (There is a link for you, I didn't get a picture of it, because by the time I stood up and got my camera it left.)

It was very exciting, seeing a new bird for me is seriously a high! You can ask Mom, she'll tell you just how nutty I am about it!

Then, Frank took me to Sports Authority to pick out a new pair of binoculars and the ones I got ROCK, they are the best binoculars I have ever owned. We then got a picnic and went to the Jordan River Park/Trail. (Mom, the same trail we went to last week.) And I DID bring my camera this time! Last time, when we went with mom I forgot my camera....I saw 3 new birds and didn't get a damn picture. But not this time!

So, after our picnic Frank took Emma to the playground and let me go bird watching alone. This is a trail that is on the Audubon website, there is always good bird watching here. So off I went, no one to worry about, no 4 year old to scare birds away, no husband I am worried about boring to death. Just me and my binoculars and my camera. And I saw 3 new birds plus a few other awesome sights.

First I was walking very close to the river (this is more like a canal, but in Utah it's a RIVER, we have very little water here!) and I saw this beautiful shore bird land in the water right near me. It's an American Avocet, one of the prettiest birds I've ever seen. First time I ever saw one in real life:

This next bird I see was jaw dropping for me. It is one of two birds I have told many people that I want to see before I die. LOL. I cannot believe I just happened up on them so easily and so close to home. I thought I'd have to travel to Idaho to likely see them! But I saw them, more than once, I saw them also later on the way back on the trail. I will just show my 2 best pictures of them. Here is the highlight of my mothers day, Cedar Waxwings:

Then later on after watching the Cedar Waxwings for a while I saw mommy and daddy Canada Geese with several babies! I knew how much Emma would like these so I took a picture:

I then saw Emma and Frank walking down the trail (about a mile from the park) to meet me and we all walked back to the car. On the way back I saw the Cedar Waxwings again...SERIOUSLY BEST MOTHERS DAY EVER! All thanks to these two people who I love more than any bird on the planet! (LOL!):

A Few Emma Photos

Emma got her very own little digital camera for her birthday and here are some photos she took at the Gardens yesterday.

Couple of Videos

We saw 4-5 military helicopters go by while we were at the garden yesterday. I also attempted to make a video of a couple of wind turbines, after 4 tries I finally got a usable one, the others were ruined by the incessant embarrassing comments made by my MIL and husband...JERKS! lol

Thanksgiving Point with Nana

Today we went to a place called Thanksgiving Point Gardens. It's just this GORGEOUS public garden that has the most beautiful man made waterfalls. We happen to go during the Tulip Festival, so we saw literally thousands of tulips...and I OF COURSE got to see lots of birds...two NEW birds as a matter of fact!

The mountains look beautiful from there and we got plenty of pictures of them.

The two birds I saw are (fist pic) Western Kingbird and the second is a Yellow Warbler.

And here is a picture of Mom and Emma...so sweet!

And Frank and Emma...

And just in case you were worried, here is a picture of Emma all by herself...LOL

And it is home to "the largest man-made waterfall in the Western Hemisphere" (according to their website! LOL) It was amazing...for sure. (Hey Amy, doncha wish we took you HERE instead of the Great Salt Lake!)
