Jen's Cake

So, on New Years Eve we celebrated the long awaited return of our SIL, Sean-Paul's wife Jen.

For those who don't know the story, I will sum it up quickly, for those who do, skip to the next paragraph! Sean-Paul and Jen got engaged early last spring. The had a wedding planned for late May. Jen is from Canada, and while she had lived here for nearly 3 years, she was only here on work and student Visas. Since the rule is, once she gets married she cannot leave the US for 1 year they decided to have a pre-wedding reception in Canada a couple weeks before the wedding. So, they go there, have a lovely reception, drive home only to be stopped at the border and be turned away. Since Jen's school had just ended and she recently left her job they wouldn't let her through. They went back to Calgary and got married a couple days later. After 8 months of filing paper work and waiting...LOTS of waiting she came home a couple days before Christmas!!!!

So, back to New Years Eve, we put up red white and blue balloons and streamers and Frank came up with the idea for this cake...AND he decorated it on his own! YES! Frank is now a cake decorator! LOL!!!! (I have blocked out her last name and year of birth for privacy reasons.) She LOVED the cake and we had a great time.

What is it with your in-laws getting kicked out of the country? Did you do something to piss off the INS and now we're all paying for it?
